We follow a specific procedure (shutdown) before beginning a job in a factory or mill:

  • Lock main control panel. Put key in safe place.
  • Shut off breakers for the main electrical supply.
  • Every employee must place a padlock on the main breakert with the names of the workers, telephone number, date and time of the shutdown.
  • The air pressure sources must be locked the same way.
  • Hose down workplace with water before cutting or welding and also locate fire extinguishers.
  • Workplace must be hosed down before leaving for meals and once the work is done.
  • When job is finished, the workplace must be secured, equipment and tools put away and checked for any anomalies.
  • Remove padlocks and stickers on the main electrical supply sand put power back on.
  • Unlock main control panel.
  • Advise all personnel before starting equipment.
