In today’s world having a web site is a necessity for any
organization, whether a business or service-oriented group. There are many
competitive advantages for placing your organization on the web – client ease
and speed of viewing your organization’s information, expanding your market and
improving customer service, just to name a few.
Where do you begin? Whether
you are building your first web site or revising an existing one follow these
simple steps for success.
Step #1 – Reflect on your reasons for going
online
Clearly understanding your web site goals is essential for online
success. The more you can tell us, the more we can help you succeed!
What is your target market?
What is your company’s specialty? What sets you apart? What are
the top 3 reasons people come to your organization?

What
do you want your web site to accomplish?
What are your goals?
What
do you want your customers to do on your web site? (E.g. Sign up for something?
Buy? Order? Contact you?)
Step #2 – What do you want to provide online?
What pages would you like on your web site? Think about your site
from your customer’s point of view. Remember that it’s best to keep to only one
topic per page. Indicate which pages you would like on your web site, adding a
brief explanation of each. Continue on the back if necessary.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:

#5 – Determine the impression you want to present
Based on your research of other web sites and your own company’s
image provide details of the appearance you would like on your web site.
Providing us with samples of your current marketing material (business cards,
brochures and flyers) would be helpful, especially if you plan on using your
current company image for branding.

Layout ideas – this is a completely optional step, as we can
provide a number of layout possibilities from the information you have given
us.
Note: If you have a general layout in mind, feel free to draw it
in the boxes provided. Please keep in mind that the anchor point of any web page
is the top left corner. That is the area that is always visible, regardless of
your visitor’s monitor size. Menu links should be kept in this general area.
Please note: We will provide you with a mock-up design for your
consideration.
Step
#6 – Marketing your web site
1.
There are many ways for people to find
your web site (business cards, company literature, and advertising). How do
you plan on bringing people to your web site once it is complete?
2.
In order to find your web site on the
Internet, your site has to be “optimized” for the search engines. Techniques
used and associated costs vary depending on the results you wish to receive
and are therefore quoted on a project-by-project basis. Are you interested in
more information on these services?
General questions
Please answer the following questions to help us serve you better.
1.

Although timelines and milestones are
somewhat flexible, it typically takes anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks to create a web site and

that we are often booking projects 2 to 4 weeks in advance.
How soon do you want your web site completed? Is this time frame
flexible?
3.
Would you like a temporary page “coming
soon” created while we work on your new web site? (Cost: $90)
4.
Most of our small business web sites are
in the $2000 to $2500 range. A few are very simple sites and can be less.
